Based in Rescue, CA, Rescue Catering has been owned and operated by the Franklin family since the business was established in 1966.

We began as the Manzanita Room Smorgy in Rescue, open only Friday and Saturday evenings and eventually Sunday also. The restaurant was not large enough for catered events so an arrangement was made to rent a building at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds and the Manzanita room called the Marshall Building home in 1977 with Rescue Catering operating also from that location.

In 1995, catering became the sole focus of the family business. Rescue Catering remained in the Marshall Building until January of 2005, when son Jack and his wife Dorothy purchased Honey Bear Ranch in Apple Hill. The property includes a beautiful wedding site with a pond, waterwheel and large grassy area to complete the serene setting. Rescue Catering now calls Honey Bear Ranch home.
